Home Staging in Portland Oregon is always a pleasure, but this project was especially enjoyable because this Hansel & Gretel cottage in the Alameda neighborhood has so much Old World charm and character!  Built in 1924, this home's style is described as "English Cottage" in the online listing.  The seller contacted Room Solutions Staging for a proposal and asked that we bring in some of our own home staging inventory to add to the seller's items.  Our  goal was to highlight the unique features of this home and maintain its unique charm while using accessory items to appeal to today's buyer.  Here are some Before & After photos of this enchanting home ...

Such a savvy homeowner to contact you for staging. Even with its intrinsic charm, staging took this home to a whole new level. You are so fortunate to get wonderful properties like this to stage! An utterly charming home that has been made so much more appealing by your professional home staging.

It is Hansel & Gretel's home!  Your staging is fantastic Maureen!  I notice the charm of the home rather than the seller's furnishings.  You did a great job neutralizing the space to appeal to a wider range of potential buyers.  Bringing in different furniture for the living room really made the fireplace the star of the show, as it should be.  Loving the front door!! :)

Charming home and now I'm not distracted by their "stuff"!  Highlighting the homes architecture is what great staging can do -- and you do so well Maureen.  Congratulations again for a job done with fantastic results.

Kathy A. ~ We're very lucky to have homes like this in Portland and they're just a pleasure to work on. Thanks for your kind words.

Gita ~ Thanks for stopping by.

Michele ~ I agree that highlighting the period fireplace made a big difference.  Isn't that front door just to die for?   :-)

Jennifer ~ Thank you, it was so much fun to do this staging project.

Pocono ~ Awesome is good ... we'll take that any day -- thanks!

Team Knowles ~ We're hoping for a pending sale soon.

Kathy N. ~ Thank you for the feature!

Liz ~ Someone told me this home has so much charm it's attracted attention for years.  It's in a lovely neighborhood too.

Margaret ~ Thank you for your feedback.  You're right that we need to highlight the architecture and this one has such unique nooks & crannies.

Maureen that's the home that I want to live in.  All of our California ranch style homes have so little charm.  Up here in the mountains we don't have subdivisions but many of the homes still feel cookie cutter.  Great job highlighting all of its special features and focal points.

Great job!  Just the layout change made a huge difference especially in one of the bedrooms.  Did you talk the homeowners into renting furniture or did they have that furniture elsewhere?

Ginger ~ I'd love to live in it too!  The newer ranch homes lack some of the charm, but have benefits in their own way too.  They just need your special touch to make them inviting!

Leanne ~ That bedroom "Before" had the bed blocking entry into the room .... by just moving it to the opposite wall, the architecture of that room is now highlighted.  Buyers will want to feel they can walk right in.  The seller asked us to bring in some needed items from our inventory.

Superb job of opening the rooms up. I'm curios as to why the TV is exposed in the LR when none of the furniture is facing it.  Everything else is great.

Virginia ~ The focal point in this room is the fireplace.... The agent had opened up the armoire for a viewing to show buyers that this room had a TV cable hook up.

Beverly ~ I love that dutch door too -- we had one in my childhood home.

Cathy ~ I can't believe you noticed it's so much like a home you'd find in Carmel.  I was born and raised in Carmel and when I first viewed this home that's exactly what I told the seller!  (Ever been to the Tuck Box on Dolores St & Ocean Ave? This home has similar charm)

Juliet ~ It was a treat to find this storybook home, whose nooks & crannies are just enchanting.  Even the crooked tree in front of this home adds to its charm.

Nice work Maureen. You did a wonderful job of removing the decor that distracted from the charm of the home so the cottage charm could shine through!

Ashley ~ Thanks for your kind words.  This home was a fun challenge.  We'd have liked some additional painting to be done, but it was not in the budget so we worked with what we had and hope for a quick sale!

Sharon ~ Yes, placing the bed on the opposite wall really opened up that second bedroom.  There are so many charming details in this home, aren't there?

Hi Maureen, what a unique house to stage, you must have really enjoyed working there. I have a question though. I was thinking that the two single chairs and the loveseat might have faced each other in a conversation  grouping. Of course it is hard to see when not in the actual room. That way you could see the fireplace and the TV off to the side. Just curious to hear your thoughts.

Michelle ~ We actually tried that configuration first, but the scale just didn't work well for the room.  Hard to tell from these photos though!
