Now We're Getting Spammed

By

Just was sent a comment onone of my blog posts that is more than one year old.  I don't need inappropriate comments, i.e., anyone advertising their links to replica watches and loan rates and whatever else. Does Active Rain have any preventions for such comments?

seems there is a way to prevent this.....I don't even understand what the spammers are trying to accomplish? Do they really think people are going to buy a fake Rolex off a real estate blog?

Caring expertise...knowledge for you!

I'm affected by this, too, and it's very annoying.

Julia - The spamming has been crazy this week. I've been spammed quite a bit this week.

That's all the comments I have gotten this week...spam central.  Pretty gross.  I keep reporting them.  Let's see what they come up with to avoid this.

I am have received multiple spam messages in the comments. To make it worse, my total points are dropping every day instead of increasing with new posts. Hope ActiveRain cures this issue quickly.

that's how they are getting the Google juice. And this is why they are targeting old posts, as we often disable notification about comments, so they have a good chance of not even be noticed.

Report them and edit your settings to disable non-member comments. I've been getting them too.

Best regards.

Obviously, there's been a problem lately. I followed Mike Caruso's suggestions and changed my settings (I really forgot about those settings, too).  Thanks for the suggestion!

I started getting some weird spam from AR posts this week as well.  I've received several that start out similar to this:

"Excuse me. How are you. Help me! There is an urgent need for sites: Free easy shower curtain patterns..."
