My family and I live on Powhatan Creek which leads to the James River. The water depth on the creek allows for boats up to about 28 feet to navigate to the James River most of the time. With that in mind we had a dock built, which we have really enjoyed. An unforeseen problem began when some of the Canadian gueese that are prevalent in our area decided that our dock was their personal bathroom. Ugh!! You should have seen me trying to chase them off, waving my arms and shouting like a crasy person. I'm sure it was quite a sight. One of the gueese opened his/her mouth and hissed at me. While the mouth was open, I could see the tongue and it looked like it was sticking its tongue out at me. Seriously!
I had heard that if you put some fishing line across the entrance to the dock and along the sides, the gueese would not cross over it. This has worked well for us and keeps us from constantly having to "clean their toilet".
Just thought you might like to know!
