Every year thousands of Georgia students complete the Criterion-Referenced Competency Test, a test designed to measure how well students acquire, learn and accomplish the knowledge and skills set forth in a specific curriculum or unit of instruction. Each school is then given an achievement score based on the percentage of students passing the reading and math sections. The Georgia Public Policy Foundation, a private, nonpartisan research and education organization, uses this score and assigns every Georgia school a rank. Listed below are the top elementary, middle, and high schools in the 24 counties that make up the metro Atlanta area.
