It's pretty warm right now here in southern Arizona with temps in triple digits.  Add a little humidity to the mix now that it's monsoon season and that makes for some sticky, long hot days!

But don't let that keep you inside!  Here are five ways to beat the heat:

Jump in a pool!  If you don't have a pool, visit one of the many community pools around Tucson!  It's one of the cheapest, easiest ways to cool off - and it's a great way to get the kids out of the house and worn out!

Go see a movie!  There are several movie theaters around Tucson or check out Fandango to quickly search a theater and movie reviews based on your zip code! Century Gateway 12 on the eastside of Tucson is a "cheap" theater and has specials on Tuesday's!

Stay-cation!  Check in at a local resort for relief not only from the heat - but cooking and cleaning too!  The Hilton El Conquistador is one of the many fine resorts here in Tucson with cheap summer rates (compared to the regular rate!) or check out what I call the "water collection hotel" at JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa!

Catch an evening baseball game. Watching a  Tucson Toros game makes for a fun, relaxing night for the entire family.  Put the kids down for a nap during the day and then bring them out for an early 7pm game and enjoy the Arizona summer nights!

Eat ice cream!  Instead of fixing dessert - pile the family in the car and visit your local ice cream shop!  Among my favorites for those on a tight budget - Dairy Queen is the way to go -- but if it's a special night or you have a few extra bucks to spend - my vote is Frost!

And just for fun - every summer here in Tucson Arizona - it's always fun for the kids (and adults) to see how long it takes to fry an egg on the sidewalk!

Gabrielle,  Triple digits!  Those are all good ways to beat the heat.  I love the frying an egg on the sidewalk.  That's what I call making the best of your situation.  Have a great week!

Hi Gabrielle, up here in Casper we get the triple digit temps but not the humidity. You have some great ideas on how to beat the heat. As a matter of fact, last night I went to a baseball game and after the game went to Dairy Queen for a vanilla ice cream cone!! It worked!!!!

Gabrielle,

I always thought it didn't matter because it was a "dry heat." I bet cars are fun to get into after they're baking in the heat too.

Gab,

#6:  Drive on up to Summerhaven.  Ginny and I haven't done that yet this summer, but we will.  We're hoping that someone up there will open a business with luscious Pennsylvania Dutch pies!  We miss that.
