I missed the Knology groundbreaking ceremony Thursday for the 26,000-square-foot facility, one block from its business office on Wheeler Road. The new customer service center on Wheeler Road will bring more than 100 jobs to Augusta
The cable television, Internet and telephone company has started laying the foundation and will begin adding vertical steel beams in two weeks, said Rodger Johnson, the chairman and CEO of Knology.
"We're very committed and very aggressive in terms of moving this thing forward. We anticipate that we will finish by the end of the year," Mr. Johnson said. "It's perfect in terms of the visibility on the street. Our division office is down the road, so the location is just superb."
The $3.5 million facility at 3664 Wheeler Road is "a great win for Knology and a great win for Augusta," said Sue Parr, the president of the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce.
Upon completion, the call center will have 400 employees. Knology's existing call center on NW Frontage Road has 280 workers, and Knology plans to hire about 120 new employees, according to the company.
Mr. Johnson said that Knology searched for a new location for two years. Augusta competed with other cities in Georgia, South Carolina, South Dakota and Alabama.
We are still Growing. Augusta Georgia is a great place to be. http://www.RELNK.us/3MZZZ

Marie - That's an exciting addition to the area! Seems like there was some pretty goof competition for the site so Augusta must be doing something right to have secured the new facility!!!
