Google Voice

If you haven't heard yet, Google came out with Google voice. It has some great features. What features you ask? Well here is a quick over view:

If you haven't already heard about it, Google Voice is a service that makes using your current phones much better!

Here's what it offers:

  • A personal phone number that rings all of your existing phones when people call
  • All of your voicemail in one inbox with unlimited online storage and free voicemail transcripts sent to your phone and email
  • Low-priced international calling to over 200 countries and free SMS
  • Other powerful features like the first phone spam filter to protect you from unwanted callers, the ability to ListenInTM on your voicemail messages while they are being left, conference calling and more

To learn more about Google Voice before registering, visit: http://www.google.com/voice/about

So today I finally got my invite after waiting for so long....... Is was easy to set up. Did some searches and came up with the number 954-667-7653 that's 954-667-SOLD! What better number then that!!!!

So I have to play around with it some more, but now all my marketing materials, blogs, websites will all have this number. It will then be sent to my cell phone.

For Sale

I can't wait to play around with it some more.....

So now like my For Sale sign reads>>>>>

So you really can Google Me like the sign says.... Of Course will need to change the number.....

UPDATE****** I did a test run and it was so cool, I got a text message from my husband who was checking it out and it said exactly what he left in the message and on top of that I got an email just as if he typed it himself...

 Can't get any better....

Now why didn't I think to do that (SOLD) when I got my number, DUH!  I like that you can listen in on a message while the person is speaking.  SWEET!

Thanks,

Jeanette, be careful how you place your number on signs. An agent I once used did that on her for sale signs, and some found the sign confusing. A quick glance made it appear that the HOME WAS SOLD.  In this market you can't afford to miss a single prospect. (She changed her signs) It's great for business cards and flyers, but I'd exercise caution with signs.

I've also got the google "CALL ME NOW" button on my blog, through google voice of course.  Saved me a couple hundred bucks a year for the push to talk button service I used to use.

Ron I am going to have to look into that call me button. Where did you find that at?

10:43pm • #20

I too also got Google Voice, tried to get a cool word number but did not like the options, Good that you got a good option. I was just going over the options and in settings there is a Call Wiget. You could make several wigets.

Love your sign, Jeanette. And what Google Voice offers. I am just not willing to change to a new phone numbers at this point. I love the text message transcription I get with Voice Cloud so I can read my voice mail on my BB. Haven't checked vm in over a year.

Jeff I see your point in changing numbers. I am still using my regular number, but any new material will have the new one and my clients still can reach me with either number..

Unfortunately, Google Voice is NOT currently available in CANADA even though I got the invitation.

I received my invite, but it isn't much different than my ring central account. I've been getting my number forwarded with voicemail / email for a while. The best part of google voice is that it is free.

Jeanette...

I also received my GV invite. I haven't set it up yet. I'm waiting to see what others have to say about it. One of The Members wrote a post about a month ago and pointed out a few things that may or may not be cause for concern. Hence the reason I'm sitting on my invite :)

I'm really excited about Google Voice.  I learned about GrandCentral (the comp. Google bought with the technology) after they had already closed registration to new users. So I've been patiently waiting.  Registered my new number last night, but didn't have the BRILLIANT idea of getting "SOLD" or "DEAN" as the last four digits. Very smart!

I can't wait to get some time to play around with it. There are a lot of really interesting features and especially when it comes to cataloging all the calls, texts, voicemails, etc.

Congrats! Now I'm waiting for all the blogs about nifty little tricks that the ActiveRain world comes up with to use with Google Voice.

Just got my invite yesterday too & am looking forward to start playing around with it!

Nice sign BTW.

In PA our signs have to use our office number, so that wouldn't work as well here.

I hope you know that Google is nothing more than big brother, cloaked in disguise. I want them to have as little information about me as possible. Remember this famous quote by Benjamin Franklin, "Those who give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty or safety".
