When a new highrise (usualy a condo) is announced for downtown, everyone nearby is concerned about what will happen to their view. Most people don't have perspective, and even if they see a drawing in the newspaper, they can't relate to what's where on the building site, or how it will affect them.
JMC Development, a local firm with a great reputation, has built a series of projects over the last two decades, each a bit grander than the last. His latest, Ovation, in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida, has prices that START at $1,900,000.
At the turn of the century (sounds historic, but that's only 6 years ago) JMC completed a luxury condominium next door on Beach Drive, the Florencia. Naturally the residents, especially those on the north side, were concerned about their potential loss of view. Shortly after plans were drawn and Ovation was announced, Mike Cheezem, president of JMC, scheduled a meeting at the Florencia to review the plans with all of the owners there - and showed them how the part of the site closest to the waterfront would be no more than three stories (the height of the current buildings which will be torn down) and above them will be the pool and gardens, a much more attractive site than the roofs of the current buildings. The condominium tower would be built on the back part of the block, thus preserving all of their water views.
How thoughtful! How caring! What great customer service - after the sale! That's part of what has gone into the reputation of JMC, as well as their coming back to fix anything, even years after the sale. They have focus groups of people who bought, who looked and didn't buy, who didn't even look, to see what features they liked, disliked, where the plans could be improved. And by the way, the prices and appreciation of these JMC buildings reflect th quality and caring of the developer.
