Fullerton student wins grand champion for steer for second year !!!
Cameron Blanke, 19, and his steer Gilligan are big winners this year at the OC Fair. On Wednesday, Blanke was named grand champion for market beef and Gilligan will be sold in auction for as much as $5,000 Saturday morning.
But that prize didn't come easy. Raising a steer like Gilligan is a big commitment, said Blanke, who lives in Fullerton and attended Fullerton Union High School. It involves a lot of walking, feeding, washing and understanding. "You can't just say, 'no, I can't feed you today, I have something else to do.' He's my main priority after my family and school," Blanke said. Blanke joined his school's FFA program as a freshman and is now pursuing his American FFA degree.
