There are so many special things about Walnut Creek - world's best shopping, fabulous restaurants, a multi-plex movie theater, The Dean Lesher Theater which has opera, ballet and wonderful shows, and one other special thing that many people don't know about - The Clay Arts Guild on Civic Drive and Broadway.  This special place is a haven for all ceramic artists!

I have been a member of the Clay Arts Guild (CAG) since 1989, and absolutely love it!  We are one of the few ceramic studios in the state that boasts teachers that show their work in the likes of the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, and also have many wonderful workshops with reknown Ceramists and Sculptors.

The studio has about 25 potter wheels, electric kilns, as well as raku and gas kilns.  It is a very large working studio that sports a full glazing area, as well as many large art tables for the sculptors and hand builders.  We have ongoing classes every quarter and we also have open studio (for an extra fee) that allows the ceramic artists to practice their art 6 days a week for about 3 to 4 hours at a time.  Open studio is very well worth it.

We also have two great sales during the year; one in the Spring and one in the Winter (our famous December Xmas Sale).  At the Christmas Sale, the beautiful pottery and sculpture pieces are priced much better than gallery prices and are well worth the trip.  On opening night , there is music as well as refreshments.  As a matter of fact, last year my husband Michael played jazz guitar and was very well received!   We have people coming back to this sale year after year!

I feel very lucky to belong to the Clay Arts Guild, and to be able to have it in my own neighborhood - Walnut Creek!
