Walked with a client into a basement of a $1M home and found this. I have never seen such a disgusting prop. It was a REAL stuffed bear sliced opened and used to cover the floor. Up close of the tongue and you can see it's taste buds.

Totally disgusting.

For what it is worth, my client wouldn't go into the room.

What were they thinking?

The morale, when agents try and stage, beware.

Surely this wasn't staged! The agent probably told them to remove it but they didn't.  Some homeowners think what they love, others will love.  Not true, especially with things that were once living. Hopefully your clients refusal to go in the room will serve as a sign that it needs to be removed.

Maybe it just needs an apple in its mouth.

No, wait--that's for a pig roast...

Actually, I think the little tiny blue chair behind the bear is also a great example of a top staging concept, which is keeping the furniture to scale.  The small size of the chair and the big black bear rug send a clear message to the buyer, "This room is for little people who like dead, disgusting, stuffed animals".

Its comical to see some people's interpretation of what staging should be, but sadly, its the seller who loses in the end.  I bet this house is known as the "big black bear rug" house, that's not how anyone would want their house to be remembered, is it?

I just had to convince a client to take a huge fish off the wall.  It took a couple of "goes" before she was willing.

That has to be one of the most disgusting things I've seen in awhile.  I would have been horrified.  I hope your buyers feelings were conveyed to the sellers.

We see A LOT of deer heads on the wall here - disgusting.  I completely agree with you... though I will admit that one time I had to stage a vacant home with a taxidermy rooster.... the homeowner was french and completely insisted that I work it into my design plan..... Ironically I blogged about it and it was the highest point blog I ever did... lol...

Ha!  I'm not a taxidermy fan but I am especially intrigued with the odd red edging under the bear's fur...red satin?  For what?  The ewwww factor just went way up!!!

I saw a black bear that was standing up at least 10' or at least it seemed so.  Scared me to death, it was right by the front door

I saw a huge bear standing by the front door once, I swear it was 10' tall.  Was quite the first impression!
