Is that your son?  Sort of looks like you.

Why is he so tired?

Hi Kathleen, I think you're right, he has run out of gas.  Hope he had fun!

Darcy and Tony: It was hot but by the water there was a beautiful breeze. I can't  imagine how hot Andrew was and all the others dressed in uniforms and colonial costumes.

RALPH: This young man's name is Andrew Stitt from my home town of East Providence, RI. I met him and his parents and girlfriend at the Gaspee Day event. He is so tired because he marched and performed in  a historical presentation enactment of the colonial period back when the burning of the Gaspee originally took place.

RICHARD: Thanks for stopping by . This was a great fun event that went from Friday June 12th to Sunday June 14th.called the Gaspee Days Colonial Encampment and 1772 burning of the H.M.S.Gaspee., the first armed conflict of the American Revolution. I wrote a blog and posted a photo. Links are below if you missed reading them.

It is hard to believe that folks actually wore those hot uniforms to battle. I would imagine that they were worn out by heat exhaustion before they ever arrived to the battle...

Helping you help others live their American dream...

Is he asleep?  Kind of looks like it.  It would have been hard to hide in those bright red uniforms - no sneaking up on anyone!

Great picture!  I think we can probably all relate to feeling so tired that we just want to plop down wherever we are.

Watching the reenactment must have been great fun!

MICHAEL: You got a point there, Those outfits are very hot looking, but I'm sure they had no choice in the matter "This is what you wear, No buts"

DIXIE AND DICK: We thoroughly enjoyed these enactments. They had their tents set up and the artillery ready for performance. Cannons were loud and some of the gun shots.

JUDI: I think he was trying to sleep but found it too difficult with so many people approaching to talk with with . Andrew was extremely knowledgeable about the history of this period and would give you facts that you might not have known. He actually portrayed a soldier with a name and with an  historical background.

IRENE: The enactments were rally fun. They actually even had a Gaspee Days Military Uniform Fashion show, There were even men and women in pirate outfits. Exciting and enjoyable

Hey Kathleen.  Nice post.  Not much to say yet the photo says a lot.  He was obviously beat with the heat.

Hi Kathleen, I love historical re-enactments.  They obviously didn't think of camo uniforms back in the day....

SHIRLEY: These men and women put their hearts and souls in reliving the past of their person's life.  The re-enactments seem so real. Definitely they could be seen in their bright red uniforms.

JOE: I am so glad my post brought favorable  childhood memories to you. Thanks for finding this blog and commenting. I look forward to getting to know you. BTW, I love your area. My younger son years back performed with his high schiool  band in Virgina Beach with the Bands of America competition. Memories came to me of the room we had right on beach.
