There are far to many wonderful trips to take in Arizona. The image we have here is that this is a vast desert with nothing but sand and saguaros. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Arizona is a state with life zones from the lower Sonoran desert of the south to near arctic tundra in the north.

I have posted more interesting and beautiful places, all within a couple of hours of Phoenix and the Sun Cities. To view information on these sites, click here. Please keep these places in mind when planning your next trip.

My favorite- the Rim Road, above Strawberry. The road connects from Highway 87 to highway 260, it is lovely forest and spectacular views from the Mogollan Rim. Summer and Fall it is one of my favorite drives. It IS dirt, so you need something tougher than a sedan, you don't need 4X4 though. We take our jeep wrangler.

Thanks for the info Jim - my husband and I have recently bought a motorcycle (OK, it's his I just get to ride with him) and we have seen more of AZ in the past 6 months than we ever saw in the previous 12 years here. On a motorcyle you actually get to smell Arizona too - and yes, I always wear my helmet:)
