SCHOOLS IN CROFTON MARYLAND are the Number One reason home buyers give for choosing this area to live, among many communities throughout the D.C.-Baltimore area.

They're among the best in Maryland... and Maryland schools are ranked FIRST in the nation according to the Quality Counts 2009 Report for Education Week Magazine, moving up from third last year, and also by Newsweek Magazine in its report on Mid-Atlantic Excellence.  Additionally, the College Board ranks Md. AP performance and participation No. 1.  Chances are excellent that Schools in Crofton and throughout Maryland are better than the schools you're leaving behind in other parts of the country.

When you first relocated to the D.C.-Baltimore area, chances are good that "How are schools in Crofton Maryland?" was the first question you asked before choosing a community and neighborhood, let alone a specific home.  No doubt about it, that's something I hear from nearly every client the first time we meet.  I'm fortunate to live and work in a community where I can deliver "good schools" to home buyers, including schools that my own children attended.

Let me tell you a little about each of the elementary schools in this area and I'll follow up next week with another post about middle and high schools in Crofton Maryland.

Let me close with this thought:  All the school statistics and test scores in the world won't tell you the whole story about Schools in Crofton Maryland.  PEOPLE are the key to quality education anywhere - teachers, administrators, community volunteers and involved parents.  We have them all here and throughout the Greater Crofton area.

Margaret, great idea for a post that can be used over and over with other posts. I must resurrect one I did months ago - with school starting soon you should get a ton of traffic.

When buyers have the option to select the area they want to live in the schools are so important even to families with out school age children. It' all about the resale.

Jo - That sounds like a great idea.  Yes, I see this being the destination of many links in the future.

Bill - Pretty impressive, isn't it?

Terry - Thanks... you're right!  Quality schools are important even for people who don't have school age children because of their effect on property values.

Margaret great post.  As a mom, this topic to me is so important.  First, the priority in choosing a new home is to find out where the best schools are, but second, it shows a lot about the neighborhood you are about to move into.  Usually when you have great schools you have great communities.  Schools that tend to score well have a very active parent base, which in turn helps to show the neighbors you are most likely going to find there.  Having lived in Crofton I know this to be 100% accurate.  Crofton is a wonderful community to raise children, for so many different reasons.
