Do you have a good imagination?  Have Kids or Grandkids?  Well, this is for you....a special Summer Treat, but like I said "Don't Gag" it's not good for the keyboard :)

Entertaining the kids, and re-enforcing various skills like writing, photography, and math this is the result of giving kids something to do.  The "assignment" was to come up with a recipe.  Are those flies real?  Yep, I saw them out in the backyard (don't know what was wrong with the flies in the house) killing flies.  Apparently everyone gets 2 each LOL :)

Oh Yummy.  Fly soup....nothin' wrong with that.  Protein works any way you can get it.

Hi Rebecca....isn't that the truth (the protein part) as I am not so sure about the Yummy Part...had to bleach my spoon before "I" wanted to use it again LOL :)

Hi Kathy, this is great!  I love the way kids are so creative!  I have a recipe somewhere for mud soup that my grandson made with dog biscuits, mud, milk, flour and food coloring.  Maybe we should write a children cook book?

Kathy, Yuck!  Reminds me of the year I had huge flies in my house...every day I had more and finally called an exterminator.  They care called "Cluster" Flies and when one gets in, they all follow!  I felt like I was living in the Amityville horror house :)

Man, that reminds me of a couple of occasions -- I'm thinking it was Palatka and some crab festival -- we picked up a plate each of soft shell crabs.  We found a picnic table outside to sit at, but as soon as we sat down, our food was covered in flies of all shapes and sizes.  We starting waving our hands and arms to shoo them away, but they would have nothing to do with it.  Needless to say, I was gagging and could NOT eat the crabs.  I threw mine away although hubby persisted for a while.

Just this past Sunday, we found a new place on the river in St. Johns County -- rode our motorcycle there.  I ordered a chef salad, but then the flies started landing on our table.  I was waving to the sound of the music and knocked over my beer.  Soon, more flies.  I asked for a to-go box and put the salad in it and then ate some of hubby's fries.  Yeck -- I don't do flies.

Well, unless I am a contestant on Survivor -- them flies might be as delicacy!

Carole- Never heard of Cluster Flies, Horse Flies (huge) but not Cluster......but that's OK, I'll take your word for it LOL :)

Jaguar Julie- How wonderful to see a comment from you although my mind was visualizing you trying to eat that Crab Salad while waving your hands at all the flies :)  I don't think we can do much about flies landing in/on our food and as you said, the hand waving only goes so far LOL :)  As for eating flies on the Survivor Show....I could, wouldn't want to but that's better than some of the stuff they have eaten :)

Kathy - That's so gross and I would have thrown the spoon out.  I can't stand the thought of a fly being on anything I use... especially a dish, cup, etc.

I never heard of "Cluster" flies either, but I think I had those too this past spring.  I don't know how these flies were getting in because I kept my windows and blinds closed; yet these flies were appearing every day... dozens and dozens of them.  It was making me sick and I was going batty! Squirting them with ammonia seemed to help, but they kept coming back... So I can relate with Carole...It did feel like I was in an "Amityville" horror movie.

Denise- If I had that many flies coming in my house I doubt this would have been a fun activity with the kids :)  Hope the problem resolved itself.....

That's pretty funny. Gosh, kids love gross stuff like that! (please tell me those are raisin flies!)

P.S. ... just thinking that a variation on this recipe would be to add butter and then you'd have BUTTERFLY SOUP ???
