K-9 Clean Up Service comes to town

Gales Ferry resident Anne Marie Beers stopped by my office today to place an ad in my "I Love Ledyard" newspaper. I was fascinated by her new business, Pooper Troopers, which was born about 4 months ago. As advertised, Pooper Troopers "takes away what your dog leaves behind". Anne Marie was a good sport and even laughed when I expressed my concern about what a crappy job she had. I suspect she's heard it a million times and my comment didn't come off as very original. Besides being a fun person, I loved the fact that Anne Marie donates a portion of every fee charged to our local animal shelter. So if you don't have time or simply don't want to do the deed, give the Pooper Troopers a call at 860-464-2604.

Linda, it's funny you mentioned this, I saw a a business truck where I live for a a company that did the same thing...I laughed out loud;)

It's a dog eat dog world out there and very cool to see such entrepreneurial spirit at work in Ledyard! And this is not a crappy post :-)

As a matter of fact, that seems like a really cool idea! I wish someone in my area had a service like that. I hate doing the deed.

I'm waiting for Bob. I'm sure he'll show up unless he's "pooped" and headed to bed early.

There certainly is great demand for this type of service. I am surprise that our septic guys haven't gotten into this lucrative business. One of my clients was just commenting how she hates to be dressed up in her suit on the way to work and having to carry her doggies' droppings to the garable bin! Now that is a picture!

We have this service here in the Hilton Head area. I really cracked up the first time I read about it in the paper but guess there's a steady supply of , well---you know what!

I heard about this type of business about two years ago. I also heard that it is a very lucrative.

Is lucrative like fertile, well manured soil? ok no I guess not

Hummmmm.........If you can't do the "Scoop" you shouldn't do the "Poop", or do I have that confused with "if you can't do the time you shouldn't do the crime." :)

Doggies I was in my backyard cleaning poop. I have two dogs that eat me out of house and home... What goes in comes out twice the size...She could retire at my house. Sorry late to the party... I have been busy today... seem someone there in AR land has me inspired...creating my community list...

I wonder what she does with the collections?

I don't know whose idea it was for Bob to actually WORK, but by the time she showed up I was busy cleaning up after my dog. "Jack" feels the need to puke somewhere in this house before he goes to bed. I have the same problem as the rest of the dog owners, it's just that the debris comes out the other end.

Puke makes me puke... I'd rather pick up nuggets than wipe up "fresh" food.

Can we please keep the subject on poop? Thank you for your consideration.

I'm still laughing. Some jobs defy description, at least in print.

I had to laugh yesterday when my next door neighbors went out to remove the cow pods from their manicured lawn following a visit from our other neighbor's cows.

Very funny Lenn. Living in the country has its moments! I enjoyed your dog/deer blog the other day. My husband just ran outside 5 minutes ago to scare the deer away from my hosta. They think it is lettuce.

Carnac will return in July. He took June off because there wasn't much good material. Fortunately there was a flurry of good (stupid) stuff to add to the list in the past week or so. I will personally give you a days notice. How's that for special (and you are) treatment?

I'm still trying to figure the schedule out. How does she meet up with her clients? Is she on call? Do they pre-pay the month or is it per scoop? Why do I want so many details? Is my real estate business failing?

Did anybody show this to Marianna? Bet she would pay to have them come out to the Springs.

I think it's hard enough being a REALTOR and getting paid after the service is complete. I think I'd want paid in advance for dog poo or be on the paid-per-poo plan. Where's Bob again?

I 'm starting a FLAT FEE pooper scooper company. I will clean the back yard and put a sign in the front yard For $29.95 a month. We have other options at an additional price.

Will she come to New London? I have one little "friend" with an owner who doesn't believe in cleaning up after FIDO. I can use her help.

Hey Linda. you're always using these words, like poop and doodie. i thought i saw a booger on your other one!! so i figured it was a nice time to use the line "for me to poop on"... as in "what a nice post for me to poop on". :)) i kid you my dear Linda. i kid.

Hmmm. Thats interesting. Pooper Troopers started in Seattle Wa and is registered at the United States Patent and Trademark office. Did she purchase a franchise or did she copy what someone else has done? Since they dont offer franchises I assume that she will be having to change her name soon. I give her kudos for starting a poop scooping company, but she should probably check www.uspto.gov to see if the name she wants to use is already taken.
