Joan - this is a very nice post on the Concord area - great pictures and you did a great job on the narrative, too.  "Rattlesnake Mountain" - I surely hope that wasn't named after rattlesnakes!!  All these years, I thought we had no poisonous snakes this far north - thought they all stopped at the southern Mass. border, at least that's what I'd always been told because it's too cold this way for them to live.

Squam Lake is such a pretty area - beautiful!

Thanks Ann...No, no Rattlesnakes but even an out of shape oldster like me can climb it and the view really is something!

You should try to take the time and check out some of these lesser known attractions. As you well know, we live in an area with loads to offer!

Hi Joan:  I think you should skip work tomorrow and we should visit these places -- they look so inviting.  I think the weather should be great and we can take more pictures of NH.

It's amazing how much there really is to see in NH!

I'm really going to try to get that feeling into my posts! If you haven't been to the Castle before you should check it out! A Stagers Dream!

Seniors ROCK!

i used to hang out on the kangamangus highway(did i spell that right?) during the summer time.

i've lived in southwest florida for 14-15 years and i get funny looks when i try to explain a 32 mile road with no commercial enterprises curling through the mountains.

no matter where you go in new hampshire the natural beauty creates unforgettable memories.

thanks for sharing.

Your welcome Jay...the Kanc hasn't changed much. It still isn't developed but they do discourage stopping and walking around (or swimming off the flat rocks) without a State permit...you know how NH is about "fees"!LOL

My husband and I actually used to go tent camping along there, but they definately don't allow that any more.

Keep on reading....maybe a few more memories will surface!

Joan, I'm familiar with the Saint Gaudens name as the designer of some of the most beautiful coins ever minted.  I didn't know Augustus Saint Gaudens was from NH.  What a fine home and grounds he had - not surprising for a person with such artistic sensibilities.
