I went to a short presentation today that really caught my attention. I could see they were selling something but what got my attention was the entire approach they used was so different. The just of the presentation is selling more real estate while working less hours and getting more business from referral sources. Putting people first and our clients needs first. I'm sure many of you know what I'm talking about and maybe many reading this have been to these training sessions. It's much more refreshing than hearing the trainer/speaker tell you to avoid your clients questions with a question. Old sales tactics that don't work today... All this got me to thinking about our business in more detail.
We are currently in a shift if you ask me. We have seen many changes from discount brokers, internet websites, fast paced get quick methods to sales training that promise a easier, better way to be succesful in real estate. All this however is changing and I personally feel that is happings right now! I personally feel that we should be focusing on more of a customer oriented service in our industry. This after all is a good thing. Clients are loyal to you when the relationship is more then just going through the motions. I mean not all people in this business are truly out for what's best for their clients. Service and doing the right thing can only help your business when you consider the excess business you could recieve from these clients referrals. When we do the right thing we earn the right to ask for a referral and we gain the respect of our clients. It's not kissing up! It's not having some great sales pitch! It's just doing what's right, listening to what's important to our customers and showing that we are in it to help them not just sell them. I truly believe people will still pay for good customer service.
