18 Comments on a Day of Fun in the SUN- FREE Governor's Bay Day
Kathleen, excellent information on Rhode Island beaches! All you need to do is grab that beach umbrella and flip flops and go! Have lots of fun! :)
Hi Kathleen...Nice Beaches, Go Have Some Fun Tomorrow :O)
Cheers, thanks for sharing these photos :O)
LOURDES: We do have fabulous beaches here in the ocean state of Rhode Island. It is a toss up as to where we will go tomorrow. either of my 2 favorites Colts Park, Bristol, RI (East Bay) or Scarborough Beach in Narraganset, RI (South County)
Fred: I always appreciate your visits. Have a super weekend and find some time to enjoy a few hours. I plan on having fun in the sun tomorrow, Do hope the forecast will be no rain.
Kathleen, I love the pics of the beach. It was so nice to visit with you on the phone today. I sent the email immediately after hanging up with the info that we talked about. I am envious of someone that close to the ocean and the beach. Thanks so much for visiting my posts and especially the one on my son who is reaching for the nfr in bareback this year... Take Care!
Finally figured out who you are on twitter, thanks for sharing the pics, never knew you had beaches like that out there.
It sounds like so much fun! I wish I could be there.
JUDI: It was such an unexpected call when you called me this afternoon, I actually thought you were Mary who had just left my office and was going to call me as soon as she reached her home. I am so appreciative your kindness and caring to make that call. Like you said, it is nice to put a voice with the face of the AR blogger. Thank you for the email info which I will pass on to my daughter-in-law. You are so sweet and thoughtful. Being a native born Rhode Islander and loving the water I find it so difficult to make a decision to move away from this paradise. except during the winters when we have the many blizzards and frigid below freezing temps.
STEVE: So glad you found me on twitter I am Grandma Kathleen, I love being a grandmother of two small grandsons 3 and almost 5, unfortunately they live 19 hours away, driving time in SC. Rhode Island is called the ocean state and surrounded by water with gorgeous beaches.
Do they normally charge to go to the beach? Maybe that's what California needs to do to solve its $50 billion budget deficit. I can only imagine the uproar from Californians who believe that their right to a free beach is the the United States Constitution: "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." LOL

UPDATE: It turned out not to be a sunny hot beach day. The temp was in the low 70's, cloudy, rainy, damp drizzly misty day, however we did decide to go to Roger Wheeler Beach aka, Sand Hill Cove and took some pictures of the sand sculptures and I even ride the swing in the playground. Made the best of the day, no swimming, too cold. While in Narragansett we went to the famous "Iggys" for clam cakes, chowder, fish, ,calamari, and the famous doughboys. Delicious
Kathleen - Your beaches look great! I'm glad you had a good time dining at Iggys despite the weather. Maybe next trip you'll get some Florida sunshine :-)
Kathleen,
The one thing we desert rats miss most is the Atlantic Ocean! :) Thanks for the water fix!
Mike in Tucson
JOHN: Thanks for stopping by to visit. We made the best of the day even though it was too cool for swimming and no sun we found a great place to eat. I will definitely let you know when I go to Florida for the sunshine. I know your August is too hot.
MIKE: That is the very reason why I do not want to leave Rhode Island. I just love being so close to the ocean. I am glad I was able to give you your water fix. LOL Come visit.
Kathleen,
I did not know Rhode Island had beaches like that. Beautiful. It's on my bucket list for sure.
TERRY: RI is called the ocean state since we have many many gorgeous beaches. Most of our beaches are in Newport and in South County, the southern portion of our state. Check out this site for all the many beaches in RI
