Was the sale of your home front page news?

Homes are bought and sold all the time.  Big homes, small homes, ugly homes, pretty homes.  Rich people, not so rich people.  No big deal, right?  Well what would happen if you bought or sold a home and it made FRONT PAGE NEWS???

See this article in today's Arizona Republic.  It details the priciest real estate transactions in the Valley for the past week.  As a matter of fact, this runs on a weekly basis.  Frankly, I kind of laugh when I see this.

Of course, real estate transactions are part of the public record.  Most anyone can find out who owns a given home and/or how much they paid for it.  But I can't help but think at some level its just an invasion of privacy having your dirty laundry....or in this case your obviously wealthy laundry :) aired in public.

Any opinions?

PS - If I happen to purchase a home for oh, 3 or 4 million - feel free to write about me!!!!

Thanks for Reading :)

I think our local papers are too busy sharing all the homes that are  not selling in this area.  I quit buying the paper.  It's depressing.

Frankly, I think there is a potential security problem for the homeowners here - to me, it's similar to the way people who went on exotic vacations used to get articles in the paper, which could alert burglars.

It sells papers or they would not do it.

If I can afford a multi-million dollar home, I will probably install some kind of security system.

I don't understand the reasoning behind it quite frankly. Should they also then list who buys $150,000 cars?

Thanks,
Shailesh
