Southern Gospel Night in the Fork...

Whether you are a local or a visitor to Williamson County, the unincorporated town of Leiper's Fork is a must. Nestled in the south west corner of the county, this town has all the grace and southern charm the South is so noted for. Talent is certainly no stranger to this area, as many of Country Music's finest entertainers and the cream-of-the-crop musicians call the secluded hills of this rural area home. Located just a stones throw from the Natchez Trace Parkway, and miles from the hustle and bustle of Metro Nashville this is an area to visit for those who love good Southern hospitality. Leiper's Fork has some of the county's best eateries, antique and art shops in this neck of the woods.

The area is abounds with musical talent, so, it is not unusual to see local artists such as Wynona or Naomi pop in to do an impromptu gig at Puckett's Grocery or perform at the open air theater just a stones throw off the main drag. Last night, the town was treated to a free concert by the Palmetto State Quartet, one of the oldest Southern Gospel Groups in the Nation. Having originated in the "Palmetto State" (South Carolina), this group has entertained folks since 1946. Some of the older members of the group have played on stage with such greats as Elvis (deeply rooted in southern gospel). This group is celebrating 6 decades of entertaining folks with fantastic, toe tapping, hand clapping, traditional Southern Gospel music. Having long been a fan of Southern Gospel myself, this concert was on my list of things to do tonight. Needless to say, what a treat is was to be entertained for free by this extremely talented group of artists. The cost of the concert and the groups expenses were paid by one of the local music patrons of this community.

Almost every weekend, there is a free concert in this area. Check the local website for a list of concerts. Stop by, rest a spell and enjoy the local atmosphere that only Leiper's Fork, TN can provide. This short 2 minute and 42 sec video is but a snapshot of the almost 90 minute concert. I hope that you enjoy the montage clips.

Y'all have a G-r-r-r-reat Sunday... ;-)
