Hernando Beach is located on the Coast of the Gulf of Mexico along an area that is also known as the Nature Coast in Hernando County, Florida.

Hernando Beach is a residential fishing and boating community.  Homes are located alongside wide man-made canals that lead to the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico for fishing, boating,  other water sports.  Not actually having a beach area, the barrier islands and the "flats" behind them accessible by boat are popular places on weekends for swimming and relaxing on the water.

Residents either dock their boats in the canals right behind their homes or have a choice of marinas offering wet slips and dry storage.  Hernando Beach offers a well-maintained public boat ramp for visitors and residents.  Other public boat ramps are nearby as well as Pine Island Beach, a public beach offering three acres of white sand, playground, picnic areas, and concession.

There are three distinct areas in Hernando Beach that include deed-restricted and non-deed restricted neighborhoods as well as neighborhoods that are located on fresh water canals with access to the Gulf of Mexico via a boatlift. 

Hernando Beach offers many social activities and opportunities through the Hernando Beach Yacht Club, the Hernando Beach Club, and the Hernando Beach Womens Club.  Other opportunities to become involved in the community are offered through the Hernando Beach Crime Watch, Hernando Beach Volunteer Fire Department, and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

Prices for Hernando Beach waterfront homes range from the mid 100's up to $850,000 for homes with direct Gulf front offering beautiful views across the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico or the protected grasslands and stunning sunsets! Median and average list prices are in the low to mid 300's.  From January through July 2009, the lowest price paid for a waterfront home was $90,000, the highest price achieved was $500,000 for a pool home located directly on the Gulf of Mexico.

Vacant land is also available in Hernando Beach offering the opportunity to build your own dream waterfront home.  Depending on location and waterfrontage, lot prices currently range from $43,000 to $700,000 with an average and median price in the mid 100's. 

Hernando County is located about an half hour drive north of Tampa. With the completion of the Suncoast Parkway, commuters can quickly access Tampa International airport and the amenities of the city.  Orlando with its international airport and all the attractions is also within easy driving distance.
