Is it Just Me Or Is This a Weird Voicemail?

By

One thing I have to say is that I found a feature about Google Voice that's pretty cool.  I can embed voice messages into a message, web page, etc...

I received a voicemail today and I don't know if it's just me or it this is a really weird voice message.  Can you understand what he's saying at the end about the 1664 interpreter service?  What the heck is this guy a member of?

Just looking for advice here...I've been hit with so much spam and scams lately, I'm thinking I shouldn't call this person back.  What do you think?

UPDATE:

Well I guess I wasted a post, I just looked up the 866 number and a lot of people are saying they are receiving calls from people that are trying to scam and also people saying vulgar things...Guess the mystery's been solved.  You get hit from every angle nowadays!

In case you're interested, the phone number is (866) 327-8877 and I'm changing this post to public in case others are seeing the same thing.

Chandra,

It could be legitimate. Video relay services are provided to people who are deaf. The deaf person was communicating with the person who left the message on the voicemail, hence the reference to interpreter 1664.

Of course, follow your own instincts.

That would explain the slow nature of his speach - he was reading.  It would also explain why the person wanted you to email rather than call.

I have heard of the scam as well and have not returned the calls like this.

The call may be a marketing ploy.  Check caller ID and then 'Google' the number to see what comes up on the internet.

I keep getting voicemails where there is nothing but classical music playing...no talking...just music.
