Mesa Del Sol residential community is temporarily on hold.

Mesa Del Sol is a collaborative project developed by Forest City Covington, NM, LLC that is partnering with the University of New Mexico and the New Mexico State Land Office. It is also supported by the State of New Mexico and the City of Albuquerque.

This awe-inspiring 20 square mile community is projected to contain approximately 37,500 homes that were planned to be built throughout the next 35 to 50 years. The original plan was for model home construction to start by the end of 2009. The Mesa Del Sol residential community may be temporarily on hold but they are still committed to being positioned for growth once the housing market stabilizes.

The aggressive master plan includes schools, universities and educational facilities, community and town centers and 3200 acres of parks and green space. The New Urbanist community plan includes a neighborhood design that promotes an energy efficient lifestyle requiring less or no use of automobiles.

The Mesa Del Sol residential part of this community may be temporarily on hold, but they are actively bringing thousands of new jobs to Albuquerque. This commitment is being realized since they have presently brought in commercial tenants and future jobs through these companies: Sony Pictures Imageworks, Molina Healthcare, Advent Solar, Fidelity Investments, SCHOTT Solar and Albuquerque Studios.

The Albuquerque housing market may have slowed, but New Mexico and the "folks" at Mesa Del Sol see the future of this community as colorful and vibrant place to live and work. We believe in Mesa Del Sol and thank Mesa Del Sol for believing in New Mexico.
