Ted,
Thank you so much for posting this informative information, helpful to many I am sure. I have heard many pro's about the Joomla platform, mainly that is an easier platform for people to use self-service.

UPDATE
I spoke with Shaun McIntyre about the service levels he offers. The free service is, naturally, limited to a subset of the capabilities of the site. With limited layer naming conventions, the free service does not reach the level of creating Joomla templates.
The paid service is $20 per month, so will appeal to the pros among us who will use the service on an ongoing basis. This is a bit interesting as those pros may prefer to do their own coding. But even the professional will find, I believe, that the system provides quick templates for client demos.
The new user has free access to the full service for the two week demonstration period. And, Shaun tells me, many people finish their work in that demo period. I have suggested an alternative pricing model to Shaun - I will report back if he makes any changes.
I remember seeing a service similar where they could convert your PSD files to html files for a flat fee. If you have one or two pages and need it right away that might make sense. If you are doing more and want to save money and have better control you might want to look at something like SiteGrinder that can convert PSD files to html and css stylesheets. I have been using that program for a few years and the benefits that I mentioned are well worth it.
Update: I now use Artisteer 2 to accomplish all template related tasks for Joomla, Wordpress or HTML
