Don't use the towels... [When did I become my mom?]

Michael...mom would smile at this.  I don't think that my family household had the luxury of two sets of towels but now mom loves her Deco. towels and when my brother visits he just sighs that he can't use them.  She has a towel hidden away, close by, just for his hands. 

Towels, dec. pillows and bed linens don't leave my inventory for occupieds except under very special circumstances.  We have many vacation homes here and my stuff can stay IF, (and it's in my contract,) when they arrived my items go into my bins while they are there.  So far no "fatalities" but it's bound to happen someday.

Funny post Michael and having recently staged the house I'm living in, I totally understand!  To live staged is a little on the OCD side, I know, but it works.  I have towels (both kitchen and bath) that have not been used, candles in the shower that only get lit for buyers, a storage bench that hides dog toys and beds, and I've been routinely wiping out the sinks and baths so they're not wet when buyers come through.  Even the kitchen cabinets got staged!  I vacuum the carpets and then walk around on them so that they don't look vacummed-- just naturally clean, which to me is friendlier.  (I'm careful not to leave obvious footprints) Crazy, isn't it?  Fresh flowers, table set, even window shades are set perfectly, all the while maintaining a cozy, welcome home feel!  Who lives like this?  I do for now!  The good thing is that when you live like this, the house usually isn't on the market for long!  And-- we had multiple offers and I'm drawing up contracts today because we have a sale!  The buyers told me that when they came into the house, they felt a sense of peace.  Mission accomplished!  And now I can relax :-))

This is a hilarious blog. My mom was such a nut about stuff like that when I was a child. We absolutely had the embellished towels-not-ever-to-be used, and also, the novelty soap-that -was-never-to-be-used.

Mother had a fail-safe about the towels. She actually put t-pins in them to keep them looking perfectly positioned, so if you did grab them instead of the hand towel laying on the side of the sink, you got poked.

Michael, we must be related.  My mom had hands-off towels too.  My brother used to unfold them, wipe his face with the underside, and then fold them back just like she had them.  I don't know what was funnier:  my mother discovering used towels or the fact that my younger brother could fold towels like a mother.

Here's a thought for the robes - have them hang them on a wooden hanger.  It really adds a level of "unexpected decor" and is well received.

Too funny Michael!  Selling and living. . .

This made me think of a roommate I had who put a fluffy little rug down in front of the bathroom sink and told me not to walk on it. I told her if it was in front of the bathroom sink ... it was getting walked on! I think she moved it to her room. Can't believe that years (okay decades) later I am putting things in bathrooms and telling people not to use them.
