To be honest, people enjoy their ocean view homes in Maliu Ridge at least as much as my horses enjoy their pasture, but if you are looking for a home for sale in Hawi where you can keep a horse in your own backyard, you'll find plenty of neighbors to ride with in Maliu Ridge!
This subdivision has modest CC&Rs, underground utilities--NO association to hassle with and no dues. Mostly full-time residents, a mix of families with young children, retirees and local business people, Maliu Ridge is considered the choice neighborhood in the Hawi area for people who prefer not to live in a gated community.
There are currently three unbuilt parcels for sale at Maliu Ridge, ranging from a little over an acre to three acres. Listing prices are from $ 325,000 to $495,000. On the larger parcel you could keep a horse or two on pasture alone. On the smaller parcels, you'll become good friends with the people who run the feed store in nearby Waimea!
I've also recently listed a Maliu Ridge home that has it all: unobstructed ocean and Maui views, upscale finishes, and room to expand. This (currently)2390 sq ft 3BR/2BA home on 2.6 acres has a full 1800 sq ft of deck and lanai oriented towards the ocean! Bring your horses or your gardening talent. The home is priced at $1,350,000 but this view is priceless! That's Maui...which depending on the atmospheric conditions sometimes seems huge across the channel from our tip of the Big Island.
If you aren't looking in the $1 million price range, don't despair. More modest homes in the Maliu Ridge area on smaller acreage are also available, for prices around $700,000.
