I have been a resident in the village of Lonsdale, a historic district in town
of Lincoln, Providence County and Plantations, Rhode Island, United States, since 1972. John and I wanted a neighborhood that had children and a great school system, since I was teaching and knew the best areas I did not want to buy a home in Pawtucket or East Providence at that time. It became the village of Lonsdale that was affordable and had a elementary school, Lonsdale Elementary (K-6) in walking distance without crossing any main roads. This section of Lonsdale abutts Cumberland, Central Falls and Pawtucket and is near routes 146, 122, 123 116 and 95. We are in close proximity to Providence, about 12 miles.

The village was originally part of the town of Smithfield, RI until Lincoln
was created in the 1870s. Lincoln is located in northeastern Rhode Island, north of Providence. Lonsdale was home to several manufacturersincluding the Lonsdale Company's Bleachery.
Lonsdale is home to the Eleazer Arnold House, a historic house built for
Eleazor Arnold in about 1693, and located at 487 Great Road, Lincoln, RI, in the Great Road Historic District. If fact, Lincoln has many historic home on the National Registry.

The median sales price for homes SOLD in Lincoln RI for Apr 09 to Jun 09 was $186,000. Kathleen, I've actually driven through your area a number of times over the years and was always impressed with the country charm. Of course nothing in RI is every more than a few miles away so that doesn't hurt either. Nice post.
