cool summer in West Michigan

This has been one of the oddest summers I've ever experienced in West Michigan.  July has been mild and temperate.  Sometimes, it's actually felt more like spring sweater weather.  I haven't minded too much because fall is my all time favorite season of the year.  The flowers seem to love the weather too.  The rainfall and moderate sunshine has allowed to them to bloom beautifully.  Mother Nature seems to enjoy challenging our expectations from time to time.

What a wonderful picture Lola...and you sure told the story of what's just going on over there....the challenges vs. expectations. Looking at this one here....there's still a lot of lovely colorful blooms going on :)

Your patio is gorgeous!

Lola, I don't think many people mind the cooler summer, except the boaters :-)   For me it is pleasurable to have my windows open and not have the air conditioning running.

We have been experiencing the cooler temps too Lola, but I find myself missing summer.  As you mention the bonus is that the flowers look fantastic - sure helps with curb appeal! :)

What a beautiful photo, Lola!  Quite the hidden garden!  But have no fear ... the hot weather you're missing has been found!  It's in central North Carolina!  LOL  We will direct it back up there if you insist.  :)

Same for us in Ohio. My daughter made a comment the other day that it really hasn't felt much like summer.

Lola, we had been getting the same kind of temperature, but with a lot of rain.  However, this week it has changed and the hot muggy weather has moved in.

Lola, It's funny that you wrote this because I have three sets of buyers from Michigan and one from Ohio and they have all told me how cool the summer has been and how cold the water is compared to our lake here.  Like you, I would prefer a cool summer.  What a beautiful photo.  I hope you are doing well!

Enjoy it while you can, my friend. We have 105 degree days here. Not fun at all.

Love your patio. It's so peaceful.

Lola - It's been odd here as well.  Lately, the humidity has been excruciating.  If that is your patio, I want to come over for Mimosas:)

This has been a very strange summer indeed.  The cool, rainy weather has disappointed alot of vacationers in Michigan.

Sally, the flowers have absolutely loved the cooler weather!  So has the grass.  So, although it hasn't been beach weather and there have been a lot of overcast skies, it's certainly been pretty. :)

Kris, I've actually appreciated the cooler weather.  There have been fewer mosquitos too.  On the days when the sun has come out, it's been wonderful.

Michelle, you're right about curb appeal. :)

Carol...No, please don't feel obligated in the least.  North Carolina can keep the heat. :)

Barb, interesting...wonder if this is a Midwest phenomenon?

Loreena, we are enjoying it.  105 degrees is just way to hot!  You could fry an egg with those temps.  Keep cool my friend.

Tom, the cooler weather has been an issue for some vacationers.  But when the sun has come up, it's been positively gorgeous most of the time.

Jason...LOL anytime, you're welcome. :)

George, Mother Nature does like to mix things up doesn't she...

Diane, always nice to have you stop by.  A lot of folks from Michigan are contemplating moving your way because of the economy. Normally, most folks come north for the summers.  This year, summer has been an interesting mixed bag.

We just returned from North Carolina where it was 85 and warm back to the Spring weather that forgot to leave our area. I love the lower temperatures.

Lola, it is weird isn't it?

I don't mind too much as long as the sun is out. I hate going to the cottage on weekends and being inside or wrapped in a blanket.

Oh well....

There is always next summer. Love your patio.

Lola--your weather sounds like my area along the shores of Lake Erie.  I think we have had three days with temp above 80.  Then the thermometer crashes into the 60's after severve thunderstorms.  Oh well, life goes on.  Your patio & flowers looks very inviting.

My preference is 75 degrees and breezy. Fall is not bad as long as it's not rainy.
