Sunset Over Madison River in Yellowstone
The following photo was taken in Yellowstone National Park on June 28, 2009. This was on our way out of the park from the Western entrance to get to West Yellowstone where we had scheduled to spend the night. I was the driver of the group and I had to pull out to one of the rest stops along the road to admire the sunset and its reflection on Madison River.
We were very hungry at the time and decided it would be a great spot to watch the sunset while eating the sandwiches we had prepared for our first day in the park. It was getting a little chilly outside so we all stated in the car. That is till I decided I should get out and try and get a sunset photo. I had to take many before I got this one as I forgot to bring my tripod.
The first few pictures were a bit blurry as I could not hold my camera still. Finally I rested the camera on the hood of the car and managed to get the following photo. That was not soon enough. We were not the only ones that were hungry. A few lucky mosquitoes got a few bites out of me during the time I spent outside the car to manage to get one good sunset picture. I still did not get as good of a picture as I wanted because of the low light conditions, no tripod and the swarming mosquitoes. However, the memories of that evening and the time spent in Yellowstone with my brother and nieces will last a lifetime!
