Last night I gave you an accounting of the fig preserves.  Well it took about 3 hours to cook and process but it is done.

From the figs that we picked, we were able to put up 8 pints and 3 1/2 pints. That is a good days job.

These figs we will give to special friends at Christmas and other special occasions.  They are like Gold to our friends.

Take care,

Ginger of Southport

With warm regards,

Hi Ginger-

We gladly pay $12+ a quart for those babies in my neck of the woods.

I like to chop them up and put them in cornbread, or toss them in pancake batter.  So good, putting syrup or jelly on them would be a crime.

Most people talk about their "grandmothers" fill in the blank, for me, it was my grandpas fig preserves. Oh my...the BEST I have ever eaten, and let me just say, I have tried a few figs in my day!  Everywhere I go, I look for someone who can produce a fig preserve like grandpa's, and I haven't found one yet.  He passed in 1985, so I have been looking for a while...My mother-in-law is on a quest to find them like her mother made.  My m-i-l is 81, her mother long gone...Thanks for making my mouth water! LOL
