Do you love a mountain view but want a home with a level yard? The Peachtree community in the mountains of Murphy, NC may be the place you're looking for. Long range mountain views abound, whether from exclusive mountain home developments like Sierra Springs and Paradise Mountain or from a cozy log cabin in the valley.
Peachtree is home to Tri-County Community College and our local hospital, the Murphy Medical Center. Just a few miles away is the famous John Campbell Folk School, a internationally renowned center for preserving the Appalachian folk arts and crafts. Week long and weekend classes are held year-round in Murphy in subjects like quilting, woodworking, blacksmithing and even geneology. Free Friday night concerts all summer long feature folk music, bluegrass and sometimes classical music. In the fall, there's an arts and crafts fair with an incredible selection of handmade pottery, candles, folk art toys and more.
You'll find great scenery around every bend in the road. Several farmer's markets offer the freshest local produce as well as sourwood honey and homemade jams and jellies. One of my favorite sites is an old car rusting away in a patch of woods. I always wonder if some bootlegger on the run from the law left it there years ago when he ran out of gas and had to make his getaway on foot!
In Peachtree you can find a rustic log cabin in the woods starting at $120,000 or a brand new chalet with long range mountain views for under $200,000. If you're looking for land, we have mountain view lots for sale beginning at $39,000 or riverfront lots on a fly fishing mountain stream stocked with native trout for $59,900.
