Our friendly Orange County Register (yes the same paper that bashed real estate for 3 straight years) reported in the Wednesday business section that "the housing market is on the mend".  They also report that this is the "fourth consecutive month the index indicated prices have turned the corner and are heading back towards positive territory".

How Does This Affect You ?

As always perception fuels the economy as well as the housing market.  Lack of inventory has been the biggest reason for the increase in sales activity.  We are all seeing multiple offers and in some cases bidding wars.  One of my clients is now engaged in a bidding war in Chino of all places.  The next big issue will be appraised values.  As prices begin to stabilize and increase it takes time for these sales to close and be used as data for new appraisals.  I do believe we have turned the corner and people are beginning to notice.  Hang on tight as I am sure it will be a bumpy ride.

Papers around the country have finally realized who is paying their bills.  A large chunk of it was from the real estate community, and now that the real estate community has bailed on them, their tune is changing across the country.  The media is so powerful that they can have both a negative and a postive impact.  The ultimate goal is that they want your business back and they want you to feel good about what they are writing.  I do feel good, but they still are not going to get my business.....as that medium does not work for my business anymore.

The bankrupt print media moguls will all be knocking our doors with hat in hand soon crying for some advertising dollars.  Screw em, they were one of the big contributors to the woes that the industry has experienced and I hope every industry member recognizes that and takes their budget elsewhere.
