Saturday, August 1. Heart of Columbia Chorus. The Heart of Columbia Chorus is the Columbia chapter of the Sweet Adelines International which began in 1945 when a small group of women got together to sing four part harmony. Today the organization has grown to 27,000 women worldwide. Under the direction of Tina Kneisler, this diverse group of women strives to sing well, perform often and have fun. Saturday, August 1. WGUS Birthday Bash. Don't miss your chance to see two of the biggest acts in Southern Gospel music today! The Booth Brothers are known for their harmony-drenched vocals and warm, easy voices. Their unique ability to communicate through song and humor have garnered them many fans with their appearances on the Bill Gaither Homecoming tours and their own heavy touring schedule over the last several years. The Triumphant Quartet, renowned for their beautiful harmonies and enthusiastic fan base, bring with them a combined 80+ years of singing experience. Monday, August 3. 2nd Annual National Night Out! Join us as we launch the City of Columbia's celebration of National Night Out that will be held in more than 50 neighborhoods the following evening. There will be a Law Enforcement Parade, NNO Press Conference, special guests, exhibits from Police and Fire Departments, food, refreshments and lots of fun for the whole family! Wednesday, August 5. Water War 2009. If you want a place where you can run around, stay wet and be cool in the middle of South Carolina's summer, then you need to come to Water War 2009! The Village Church will unload 4,000 water balloons on the YMCA field next to the parking lot at the Jeep Rogers Family YMCA at Lake Carolina. Kids grades 6-12 should also plan on bringing their own water balloons, water guns, or whatever wet gadgets you have sitting at home. You do NOT want to miss this! Wow. It sounds like there is all kinds of great stuff to do in the Lexington area. I don't even like beer but the Brew at the Zoo sounds like fun.
