Highland Ave in Waterbury, Ct runs through the center of what locally is referred to as Town Plot. A ride along this street is to see the town as it must have been years ago, with the stately multi-families, older colonials all well maintained and standing forward with pride of ownership written all over. The section of Highland Ave that gets the most recognition is the Mt Carmel area, so named because MT Carmel Church and school stand out in an isolated block all to themselves.

Part of what makes the section so unique is that over the years it has retained it's strong ethnic flavor. This area has long been an area sought after by people of Italian descent. The stone walls behind which are the manicured lawns, and to look in the yards would find the perfectly organized gardens. If you aren't up for the competition of the first or the biggest tomatoes, then this isn't the section for you.

The heritage pride also displays itself in early July with the annual Feast of Our Lady of My Carmel. Weeks of preparation and cooking culminate with 4 days of singing, dancing eating and all out revelry, all with the underlying tone of honoring the patron of the church. Pride further shows itself with the evening candle light procession around the block, and if there was ever a worry for getting lost, or not knowing who the organizers are, the lines down the center of the road that form the route tells it all: red, white and green!

The homes in this section of town are of a modest range falling within the range of $120,000 to $230,000 for a house ready to satisfy the needs of a grown or a growing family. As with most areas of Waterbury, Ct, there is the neighborhood grade school, BW Tinker School a few doors down on Highland Ave.

A half-mile down Highland Avebrings us to the sections high school, JF Kennedy High, and right within the same complex is the middle school for this section of Waterbury Ct, the West Side School.

Recreation also being important, another of Waterbury's little gems is Murray Park, located off of Anna Ave. The park has numerous ball fields on it's upper and lower levels, tennis courts, playground area and the walking trails.

Currently there are 28 homes for sale in the Mt Carmel section of  Highland Ave section of Waterbury, Ct. Another high quality of life area, with friendly neighborhoods, recreation, close schools, and just an ideal family environment.

Whether looking to buy or sell, we service the Greater Waterbury towns of Beacon Falls, Bethany, Cheshire, Naugatuck, Middlebury, Thomaston, Waterbury, Watertown and Wolcott
