A Little Help From a friend....

Lily at work

Lily helps to write a contract!

I've blogged before about marketing with pets.   And while dogs, may be the pet of choice for most pet market campaigns, we've found that our cats have turned out to be popular with our customers.  And they certainly keep their children entertained!   We usually attempt to move them to another room but most clients prefer the girls to be right there in the thick of things.  One client actually said it made him feel more at home.

We are planning a drive for the local animal shelter this winter and you can guess that Lily and Molly will be front and center in the campaign.  It's good business but more importantly, it is fun for the office and worthwhile for a great cause!

One of the other drives we are planning for this winter is something mentioned at the most recent Howard Brinton Conference.   NO BARE BOTTOMS - a drive for disposable diapers for our local Catholic Charities office.  The marketing will feature a little bear with a diaper.

I know many of you give back to your communities in different ways.  As I start to work on my business plan for next year, I'd love to hear your ideas and suggestions!

A friend of mine adopted a cat for her office, a building supply company. Tough construction guys would come in and ignore Merlin until the cat rubbed up against them. Then the guys looked forward to seeing the cat when they came in each trip. Sadly, Merlin the cat died, and you never saw a more sad site than men in construction hard hats hearing the bad news...........

Funny you mention that.  I've noticed that men seemed to be the biggest softies when it comes to Lily and Molly as evidenced by the photo.

And for the oddball category, a local agent in our town used to have a pet squirrel in the office.  It was a hit with agents and clients alike.  The day the squirrel died was sad all around-you actually wanted to sell his listings just to go see the squirrel!

We didn't have an 'in house pet' per se; for a year we had 'Herman' the squirrel who lived in the only tree in our concrete parking lot; we hung photos of him inside, and fed him peanuts outside.

We also allow, in both our offices (managed by the same wonderful Manager) pets to visit a bit! We have a Bermese Mountain Dog and a 2 oz terrier of some sort - and everything in between. I agree, it brightens our days or evenings when they visit.

Hi Linda. I really like the cat and the No Bare Bottoms is a great idea. I just finished a post on donating airline miles to the military and sending out care packages to our soldiers overseas. Every few months we gather donations for a unit stationed in the Middle East.

We are considering a bring your pet to work day.  Be interesting to see if they all get along!

As Lily & Molly's "other mother" I can attest that most everyone who comes into our office loves "the girls!"  They are wonderful with the kids. We had 2 or 3 children, who were well behaved here one day and they took turns passing the cats back and forth and not a meow was heard or a claw seen.  But when they left Lily and Molly were exhausted and we were too!
