The smell of leather hits your nose instantly as you walk through the door, beckoning you in to he wonderful world of English and Western  tack and supplies, riding apparel and footwear, and, of course,  Beyer horses!  Clip-ity Clop Western Store and Saddlery has been providing all of this and more since 1969 at the intersection of Route 82 and Riverview at 12930 Chippewa Road in Brecksville, Ohio, 44141.

I remember meeting John Rogers, owner, back in 2006, when our daughter started taking riding lessons and needed a saddle.  He was concerned about the saddle being the right fit, not what expensive saddle he could sell us.  After trying numerous saddles, we bought a used schooling saddle that was in very good condition and she rode in that saddle for 3 years before we took it to Mr. Rogers and he bought it back.  That was a great saddle!

The Rogers family owns and operates the store and could not be nicer or more helpful.  The same can be said for the staff, most of whom are local equestrians that our daughter has met along the way. Whether we need a salt block, a girth, or a pair of boots, someone is always there to help in any way possible, and believe me, we have needed help plenty of times, Himalayan salt blocks, engraved bridle plates, and a few extra holes punched into thick leather bridles.  It is truly a pleasure to be able to go into a store and know that you will be treated well and that the staff knows you and your daughter.   The other great thing is that I know all I have to do is pick up the phone and call Kristen, Mr. Roger's daughter, and I will get the answer to my question, whatever it may be, every time.

In the late fall, Clip-ity Clop puts on a huge evening spectacular where people from all over the area come to enjoy wine, hors d'oeuvres, a fashion show, prizes, and great conversation.  The store is packed with girls, girls, and more girls!  Our daughter has not missed one yet, and really looks forward to it when the invitation comes. It is also a great time because we always see people who have been part of our horse life in one way or another, but not of late.

The other great feature is the gigantic bulletin board with all kinds of horsey information. It is like the community horse classifieds.  Our daughter doesn't leave the store without checking it out...you can find out who is selling whom or what, which barn has stall openings, or find the business card you has just the service you were looking for.  I, myself, have been known to stand there for awhile.
