When we get into the hot days of summer, I always think back on the soundtrack of my life. For some reason, maybe it was just the worry-free cruising around Bellingham in the summer as a youth, the music of summer seems more memorable than tunes from other times of the year.

Those big hits of summer tend to stick with you. You hear them blaring from radios at the beach, at the drive-in, wherever you go.

There are many summer songs but one of my favorites first hit the big time just in front of summer, April 1966. It was easy going, fun, and made it to #2 on the charts. It stayed on the Hot 100 for that whole hot summer. In my memory, that was one great summer in Bellingham and I remember 1966 as one of my favorite years. Even today, this old hit is a staple of summer radio on the oldies stations.

See if you remember this one.

Music can bring back memories so strongly. I like to listen to the Kid Rock song "all summer long" it reminds me of bonfires on the beach in So Cal.

The Spoonful were such a good time bad.  You could just listen for a minute and fell better about everything.

The spoonful sure put out some cool tunes. I really liked "Summer in the City"...

Considering that you (or was it that nutty judge?) are blustering something about litigation, I am not sure I should comment here. But being the generous person I am, I will go ahead and add to your blog.

I also associate summer songs with "We'll Sing In The Sunshine." Thanks for the memories that come with "Daydream" too. Kate Ford

STEVEN: Thanks for bring back some vivid memories of me cruising in my 66 Falcon burgundy Convertible going to enjoy my rootbeer float at the A&W in Riverside, RI Those were the summers. I would then head to the midway at Crescent Park and have so much fun. I loved playing on my phonograph my  45  of "Unchained Melody" by The Righteous Brothers:

When I saw the title I thought you were going to play, "Hot Town, Summer In The City."  Dreaming is great too.  I saw the LS in concert in a tent in country-side New Jersey the summer of 1966.  There were maybe 300 people present!  I don't know what my cousin paid for the tickets, but I bet they were cheap...  It was a great concert.
