I use several of what I call companion programs with the St. Paul Real Estate Blog. My blog has a lot of photos on it because I want people to see St. Paul and a photo is worth a thousand words, besides if I use more pictures I can write less.

Picture posts with a few words can generate numerous comments and some interesting discussion.  I recently received a note from one of my readers saying he was "moved"  by a photo he found on my blog.  In my business moving is what it is all about. Pictures can create powerful visual messages and tell stories that could not be told as well with words.

Serious real estate blog writers should consider having pictures of real estate on their blogs.

I recently started using a free online video and photo storage site called PhotoZou and have decided that I prefer it over Flickr.  I can store 10,000 files for free and create unlimited photo sets.  Photo albums can be made public, private or freinds only.  Photo sets also come in handy for sharing photos with out of town buyers  and for home buyers who want to share pictures with friends and family.

Like Flickr photos can be uploaded from cell phones or computers. What I like about PhotoZou is having the ability to create multiple photo albums for free and I love the way the photo albums can be displayed on my real estate blog.

The pictures from a photo set are displayed below using PhotoZou Widgets:

The Active Rain Platform does not support some of these features, follow this link to view the rest of the post.  Widgets will work on your typepad blog, blogger, wordpress and most other popular platforms.  The widget shown below is the photo album cover widget.

Teresa,

This one is new to me.  I tend to not use as many photos but it is always good to be able to post many photos at once.  I found a great video hosting tool today and did a write up on my Outer Banks Real Estate blog - I think if you are looking for a video solution, this one has to be close to the top now.

A very nice online tool.  I have always prefered to browse flickr becasue of the way users catagorize their pictures by available copyright use, nothing better than beautiful picture that is available for free use.

You're funny.  I like the 'writing less' thing.  Made me chuckle.  Am I allowed to say that as a blogger?

I ain't no writer!

Nice stuff....I do not use either at the moment but have always felt a bit open to pirates with free sites.  What is the motivation of a free site like these?  I have passed by many because of the perceived lack of security allowing the wrong people to track back to my computers.  My just be my natural protective instincts. Great post.

Thanks for the tip.  I use Flickr now and again.  Blogger hosts my other blog and I don't need a photo host.  That is a big help.  Again, thanks for the tip

I believe that pictures of homes should be on any serious real estate site, blog or web sites.

Verbiage is Google food.  Pictures of homes are consumer food.

T ~ I have to agree with you here.  Photos make for a much better blog.  The add interest and tell a story so you don't have too.

Nice post~

Hi Teresa - thanks for this helpful post on PhotoZou.  I'm already checking them out.  Question though...when I click through to your OTHER blog, what am I looking at in the photo marked P1010650?

Thanks Theresa,

Haven't used this site before. How do you do a search for applicable pictures to use in your blogs. I saw the search screen but it seemed to only search "license types"?
