I woke up again early this morning to the sound of sirens. Close to my house near the "back of Kingwood Texas" is a very very sharp curve in the road. It is not unusual to have people who are unaware to try and take it too fast and end up in the ditch, hitting a tree or in a neighbors yard. I quite frankly would hate to live on that corner as it is dangerous. The issue needs to be addressed somehow just out of common courtesy to "help our fellow man." It would be an easy fix. More signage would be a good start. The traffic on this road is becoming heavier and heavier as the back of the city expands. Now there is yet another subdivision going in in the same area. Thank goodness for the growth but what about safety?
Now that the sirens have subsided, it is now a quiet Sunday morning. In ponderance of the rude awakening, and reflecting on my thoughts, a word comes to mind. The word is "TIKKUN OLAM" It is a Hebrew word that mean to repair the world or perfecting the world. Socially it means to do things not because it is required by Biblical Law but for the sake of the world and mankind. It is to do things because it helps to avoid social chaos.....if you are recognized for it or not. As stewards of our own lives, others lives and the well being of the world, every time we do a kind act, we display the essence of TIKKUN OLAM.
To pick up a paper on the side of the road...Tikkun olam
To open a door for someone.........................Tikkun olam
To say a kind word of encouragement...........Tikkun olam
To visit someone that is lonely.......................Tikkun olam
To bless someone that needs financial help...Tikkun olam
I always try to tikkun olam in my real estate practice at EXIT Realty Solutions and in every other facet of life. I am not always successful but it is a great target to shoot for.
Why not TIKKUN OLAM someone today?
