Yesterday was the first time we took a space at our local Farmer Market. Although it is billed as a Farmer market they really allow you to sell almost anything and we've gotten some pretty good deals ourselves from time to time. They charge 10.00 for a parking space and you're assigned two spaces for that price. That is given that you use the space in the rear to park your vehicle and the front space to sell your items.
Since we have a small discount pet supply business as well as a computer supply, sales and service business we elected to set up two tables and two shelving units. In addition we set up two small displays, one had information regarding my husband's contracting company and the other with information about my home inspection business.
I was very surprised with how successful the day turned out to be. We sold a large amount of both pet and computer supplies. Since we had our business cards there for the taking I was surprised with how many times I had to refill the card and brochure holders. We also made a new acquaintance; the couple sharing the space to the left of us are NJ Realtors whom recently purchased a home here in Scott Run. Since we live within 15 minutes of each other we plan to get together next weekend for some backyard grilling and home repairs.
Today we got a call from a local business owner who picked up our business card and would like us to come down and service his network, which went down on Friday. I met a local Realtor who suggested that we meet for lunch tomorrow to discuss my home inspection services. It cost us 10.00 for the space, we cooked in the sun for 9 hours, sold a bunch of supplies, made some business contacts and a possible new friend. Not to shabby for a Saturday afternoon at the local Farmer Market.
