MinotHomeOfEconomy

My business choice of the day is Home Of Economy in Minot ND. Here is a small regional chain (I believe about 4 stores) that has not only survived but thrived in the shadows of the big box stores that have popped up around it. If you live in Minot ND and you have not been to Home Of Economy shame on you. It is conveniently located on 20th Ave SE just across from Kmart. As you can see from the sign above a great deal of Home Of Economy's business is farm related but I assure you there is a lot there for you no matter who you are. There is a ton of housewares and I'd dare to venture that if you can not find that kitchen thing anywhere you just may find it at Home Of Economy. Looking for Men's and Women's Western Wear, try Home Of Economy. Need Work Clothes like Carheart, try Home Of Economy.

It's my opinion they really should change the name to Home Of Economy AND Quality. Unlike the many box stores, I've never purchased a product at Home Of Economy that broke the first time I've used it, in fact I don't think I've purchased a product here that has broke or malfunctioned ever.

They have service here to! You not only don't need a tracking device to locate a clerk, chances are one will actually approach you and ask if you would like some assistance! Also in the line of service you will find that they have an excellent tire shop and can help you with your automotive battery needs as well. Guys, while you are getting those tires rotated or a battery installed you can stop in at the Barber Shop inside Home Of Economy. A REAL Barber Shop! Last of all let me say that good service only comes from good management. What about a manager that is readily available to the public? Home Of Economy in Minot is managed by Rob and he is always eager to meet you and address any concerns you might have.

I love Home Of Economy in Minot ND and I think you will to. You can tell them Bob Timm, Realtor, Minot sent you (chances are they won't have a clue as to who that is but what the heck, tell them anyway). Last thing I'm going to mention... FREE COFFEE! Oh and I also do not want to forget to mention that as we get near to Christmas look for the biggest toy selection in town at Home Of Economy in Minot. Ho Ho Ho, see you there!

Bob,

Looks like a great store. I am writing a blog post tomorrow about Riggs Supply which has 5 stores and is very much like this store. Great job and make sure Bob knows about this post. I think you have to put a link in comments on his post pointing to this post.

Thanks for the post, Bob.  We actually have 6 stores in North Dakota (Grand Forks, Grafton, Jamestown, Devils Lake, Minot and Williston).  We try our best to give the customer what they want.

Bob - I am assuming that the photos were taken before the store opened for the day. Where are all the cars in the parking lot?

Mike,

The picture was taken yesterday (Sunday) on my way home from worship. When I wrote this I was thinking they are not open on Sundays but as you can see from the note below I just was a little early (I attend 8:30 worship).

Actually, we are open Sundays from 12 - 4.  Home of Economy actually opposed Sunday openings, but since our competitors are open we're stuck being open as well.

Not our choice, but that's the nature of business.  If you want to stay in business you've got to keep up.

Minot North Dakota is a unique and wonderful place to live. Minot is about as "Crime Free" as a City our size can be and we seem to always buck the trend when the nations economy takes a dump. As an example currently all you hear on the news is home foreclosures and bankruptcies but not here in Minot. We are experiencing a housing BOOM like you would not believe.
