Here is the pasted article:

1. Home stager
The real-estate market is not what it used to be and homes are taking longer to sell. Potential buyers usually decide how much they like a property by picturing their own possessions in the house. That's not always easy if the home is cluttered with unattractive décor and furnishings. House stagers work with real-estate agents and their clients to improve the appearance of a home and make it more appealing for potential buyers.
Industry umbrella: Interior design
Job growth: N/A
Salary: Most stagers are self-employed and set their own fees. Prices may vary from $75 for an initial consultation to $500 for staging an entire house.

Any publicity is usually good publicity, but where did their salary figures come from - HGTV shows??  Or non-trained, inexperienced hobby stagers??  I think CareerBuilder.com needs to print a correction!

Joan, I don't whether to laugh or cry! $500 for an entire house? Maybe we should start a campaign to provide CareerBuilder with more information... Thanks for pointing that out.

Ironically, most clients and realtors in our area balk at even $500! The price comparisons have simply gotten out of control. Few people seem to be concerned about quality, they just want it cheap.

Where do they get their numbers?  I also noticed that the umbrella industry was listed as Interior Design.  It has always been my belief that the umbrella was Real Estate.

Unfortunate to see more in the continuing trend of de-valuing the value and worth of professional stagers!  It's our responsibility to educate our local Realtors and homeowners that there is value in what we bring to the house and all the work involved to make it happen.  They certainly get what they pay for!
