I had posted a picture a few weeks ago on my blog showing a beach and making it a game- where was this taken?

I had several comments guessing North Carolina, because that's "where I'm from."

The last person who used that quote "that's where I'm from"  got me thinking- where am Linda Jandura RealtorI really from?  How do people answer that nowadays?

Do you say "You're From" where you were born?   Where you grew up?  Where you spent many years as an adult?

Or do you answer that  "You're From" where you live now?

What if you just moved in to your new town and have only lived there a few months? Do you answer that you're "from XYZ"  if you have lived there for less than a year?

What if your heart is still in ABC, but your life circumstances have caused you to move to EFG?

Then we get down to the nit picky. Do I say I'm from North Carolina, or from Raleigh, or from Apex?

The Triangle area of North Carolina is a popular area for people to relocate to because of the high tech industry, medical community, and our wonderful schools and univiersities. . We have people who have relocated from New York, California, New Jersey, India, and all over the globe.

With people moving all over the world now, will the phrase "where are you from" require a 10 minute conversation to answer it?

Usually I answer that question with, "well, I'm originally from upstate New York- the Buffalo area, but lived in San Diego and raised my family there for many years.  Lately I'm from North Carolina."  Sometimes that's way too much information for the person asking, but mostly it gives people something to ask a follow up question about.

How about you? Where are you from, and what do you tell people?

Linda, That's funny and I never really thought of it, I've only lived in one place!  I used to answer "Long Island" but no one knew where that was....saying New York is so easy :)

Hi Linda,  I would be safe to say I from Colorado, now when I say Livermore or Red Feather Lakes, most people don't know where that is, so I then I get to tell them all about it.

I always say "Detroit", though I've never lived in the city, since just about everyone knows it's location.  If I say Grosse Pointe, most folks haven't a clue where that might be.
