The other day I wrote a blog about driving direct traffic to your websites.  An item that I did not cover was Favicons!  As most of you are going to scratch your head and ask what a favicon is, I suggest a small little test,

Go to http://www.atlantabesthomes.com/and save it as a Favorite or a bookmark.  Then close out your window.  And re-open.  Go to your favorites, and what do you see for the site you just saved?  Load the URL for http://www.atlantabesthomes.com what do you see in front of the URL?

Let me know and well discuss what a Favicon is, why I've used it for over 5 years. and how you can add to your own site!

The capital R meaning the symbol of a realtor.

How'd you do that and how do I create one for me?  Always wanted to know this!

Favicons are cool little extras and I have them on my home site.  I think I notice it more than anyone else does.  If you asked people outside of the industry what the big R stood for, I bet less than half would be able to guess the correct answer.

The symbols or pictures can be anything you want them to be.  Stay tuned for more!

Jim,

I was reading about this the other day but haven't decided what I could use that is that small.  I like your idea of using the "R" for realtor - I might have to try that myself.

It is not that they are that small, that is the size of a favico.  It is a very specific graphic file that is neither a .jpg or a .gif file.  It is a .ico file which is limited in this use to a 16x16 pixel size.

Jim, this is very cool... I love it!  I bookmarked this and will go back to it a bit later to play with this new little tool.  Thanks for pointing me here!  :-)

This is one of th e bsest tools for keeping direct traffic coming back to your site!  I'm surprised most web companies and agents do not use!  Maybe that is better for me!

Jim,

This is very cool - I am not sure I completely understand how to do it, but I will do my homework and read over the sites you cited above.

Thanks so much!
