If your home is currently for sale and you have it listed with a real estate agent, do yourself a favor and either pull up your listing on the public MLS site, Realtor.com, etc. or ask your agent to email you the client detail for your home. It's really important that you know how your agent is marketing your home and that you know what home buyers see when they view your home online. Nearly 90% of home buyers are using the internet to shop for homes. The National Association of Realtors asked those internet home buyers which features they found most valuable and 83% said high quality photos. I'll say it again; 83% said high quality photos. Please explain to me then why I find appalling photos like these in the MLS? Make sure to click on the photos to enlarge them and see how bad they really are.

I don't even know what they're trying to say with this photo.

Plenty of counter space and ample storage.

Great for dogs, kids, and outdoor entertaining. If the yard looks this bad, don't include a photo.

Nice wall. Does your client come with the house?

Spacious laundry room? Washer/dryer not included?

The absolute worst. This home has been on the market 192 days and still no photos.

These are just photos I came across today while browsing new listings, price reductions, etc. Perhaps I shouldn't judge. Maybe these homeowners told their agent that they really don't want the house to sell so please make it look as bad as possible so we don't have to be bothered with any showings. Another pet peeve is spelling mistakes in the marketing remarks and photo captions. I totally get that a lot of people out there are not good spellers. Please use spell check then, or ask someone in your office to proof read for you. The following photo captions were all included in the same listing. 5 out of the 10 photos had spelling mistakes or typos. Large Corner lot. Comcplete with the white pickit fence. New laminate florring thrughout. Decorater colors. Remoldeled bathroom. Master sweet.

I vow to keep a file with bad MLS photos and I will be updating periodically.

Amusing!  I agree.  I always use a professional, but then again, I've recently been accused of having pictures that make my listing look TOO good.  I've gotten complaints that the prospective buyers are disappointed when seeing the home because the photos led them to believe it was a bigger house! All the dimensions are in the listing! You can't win!

Bad photos is one of my pet peeves, too--not to mention poor spelling in the listing info.

I get a chuckle of out agents unintentionally pointing out the faults of a property--cluttered rooms, unkempt yards, neglected maintenance issues. When I see a blurry photo, I cringe...and cell phone pics...aww, c'mon, are you kidding?! Even better are the "drive by shootings" showing part of a car mirror in the corner of the photo...wow, did you even slow down?!

All my clients know I take pride in my listing photos--not to mention flyers, brochures, and listing info in our computer listing sites. Some clients know that photography is a hobby/interest of mine (I've won an award or two and had some published), and they trust my eye. We work together to give the best photographic representation of their properties. I sure wish all agents did the same!

Along with a friend who also has an interest in photography, we have a side business offering photo services in our area, especially for advertising high-end homes and customized Welcome Packages. Things were rolling along until the market fell, but it'll come back.

I agree.  I cannot understand how some agents do not see the value in quality photography.  Whether they do it themselves or hire a pro.  Photos are usually the face of your listing.  If the photo makes a prospective buyer cringe, what hope is there that they will actually want to see the property in person?

I would love it if all realtors demanded professional photographers shoot their houses... I'm dreaming, but it would be nice!

The ultimate sin... No Photo Available!  Are you kidding me!?!

I have seen many of these as well.  My favorite is when they take pictures of the light switch covers and have the caption "updated switch plates".
