I already posted my question to Twitter and have not received a good answer back yet.

We have our own 800#. We want to change our carrier but we want to keep our 800 number.

So I thought that I would ask all my wonderful friends here on Active Rain for answers.

If you are happy with your 800# service and their rates are low, please let me know.

I need to act on this right away so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Not sure how much luck you will have keeping the number but we use a software phone system that runs off the high speed modem. The name of the company is Vocalocity. I am very happy with them.

We moved our 800# from Ma Bell a long time ago, and then moved to different companies as companies closed down. Quest was the worst so we will not go back to them. I use Skype and Google Voice and we have Skype phone lines along with AT&T for our main phones and fax and DSL. But Skype does not bill for the 800# calls and that is what we need. Thanks!

No, I did not answer my own question. I still do not have a carrier to switch over to. I am looking right now for a carrier that will let me keep our 800 # and has low prices for 800 calling.

Prices are falling alot slower now, stabilizing a bit.

Hello Katerina,

I enjoy your blogging especially the short sale stuff.

I recenty switched to phone.com for phone service. I do not have an 800#, but I am using a virtual number and phone line service with them. Made the move about 3 months ago and so far I am very pleased with them. No burps or hiccups that I am aware of with my service. I know they have 800# plans, not sure about porting in your current #.

Regards

Steve

Hi Katerina,

I'm very satisfied with my service.  I use Unitel.  It is so cheap sometimes I forget to pay them but they always send me a friendly reminder and I quickly pay them.

By the way I have been using them for probably about 5 or 6 years (maybe longer, time flies) and I have not had ANY problems.  They gave me a way cool phone number to start out so I have always been happy.  My 800 number is the exact same number as my office but with 866 before it.

Hi Katerina! I've been contemplating an 800 number for some time. I need to park here and see what turns up that might be good to use. Hope you find a good one.

Lizette-Nestor has had our 800 number for 18 years now. Everyone knows it if they forget our office #.

I don't care for it too much because it is an expense I just don't think we really need anymore since we have email and most people have cell phones with no charge for long distance and have home plans that include long distance. We have unlimited long distance for 2 lines from ATT for 24 bucks a month.

Marchel, I checked the rates and they are really high in Florida, like 9c a minute. The service we have right now is 2.9 c a minute. We have had them for a few years now but having some issues now.

Guys, You have come to the right place...Not only do I do mortgages but I consult for Telecommunications.  I have access to just about every carrier in the country and I know the good the bad and the ugly for each one. There are many carriers who can do a good job for you.  I need to know some info and I can get you some different quotes and options.  How many minutes do you do in state?  Out of state?  Are you paying a monhtly cost?  So AT&T is your local carrier for the line he 800# points to?  From that I can then go to the few carriers I would recommend for Florida and see if they can give you 2.9/minute or better.  I am happy to help...

Thanks,

Brian

Katerina - You might want to consider Vonage, one of the big VOIP companies.  They have 800 numbers in the US but not in Canada (unfortunately for me since they won't sell me one but have seemed to claim they are bringing it to Canada for the past several years).

Of course, since you continuously move 800 number companies, you would need to verify that you could then port it to the next company since Vonage has had financial issues for years.  I'm not sure of their current financial position.

This was interesting - as I have never had a toll free number.  Thanks for bringing it up.

Hello Katerina, we use AdTrakker from FreedomVoice.  6.9c per minute with 6 second rounding  -- that's the starter rate.  You can buy blocks of minutes for less. The basic plan fixed charge is about $25 per month.  No contracts.

AdTrakker is a bundled product set up for Real Estate: 1) In-bound Toll Free; 2) Call Capture; 3) in-bound electronic FAX; 4) One-Number find-me-follow-me service, ... We listen to the voice messages and view faxes via e-mail files or using the web-interface.

We have 2 TFNs that point to this service that we use, and could add more.  $30 to add a new TFN.  I'm not sure what the RESPORG charge is for an existing number.

We've captured and closed deals with this service!  Good Luck.  John  (888-KALL-KAT ext 83)

PS - if you do sign up for AdTrakker, and refer others to it, they will give you one-month of the basic charge for free.

PPS - if you'd like to do a search for available Toll Free Vanity numbers go to www.TollFreeNumbers.com and have fun!
