Lake Padden Park has to be one of the busiest parks in all of Whatcom County. If you can name it, it takes place at Lake Padden. The lake is noted for its trail, all the way around the lake, and it is a favorite for hikers, bikers and walking and exercise groups. Wildlife is nearby and a few years back, one night, a beaver chewed down, and left on the main trail, a number of trees. Bald eagles will be seen as well. The park is suitable for boating (no noisy motors), swimming, picnicking, fishing and like any regional park in the active Pacific Northwest, there are areas for baseball, softball, tennis and other outdoor sports. There is also a golf course, one of the most popular and affordable in the county.

7 Comments on Lake Padden Park, Bellingham

The last time I was at Lake Padden park was May 7th, 1994. The reason I remember it so vividly is that I had a little radio with me to listen to game 5 of the Sonics (#1 seed) Nuggets (#8 seed) playoff series. Needless to say the Sonics lost and I have never been back............maybe I need to go throw some salt over my shoulder in the park or something to help the Sonics get their mojo back.............

Man, Bellingham is so beautiful!!!!! Nice post Steve

Steven, that looks like a great place with a lot of things to do.  I would like to be in that lake right now.

Steven - Your photos are so beautiful.  Really makes me want to hop on a plane!  You are certainly a very pro-active home inspector.  I subscribe to your posts and always look forward to reading what you write and the wonderful photos you post.  Keep em coming!

Thanks all.

Marlene,

Pro-active, try to be. Plus I like writing, back in another lifetime when Grant was President, I was a journalist so I find AR real appealing. It goes back to trying to find something interesting to write about, and it there is nothing that comes to mind, you try to make something.

I used to live right up the street from Lake Padden about 8 years ago.  I hiked around it daily and miss it every day!

Bellingham is a wonderful place to live!
