Publisher 2007 Problems! Any ideas?

MS Publisher Crashing on 'Save'

Hello all! OK, I give up! I've spent the better part of two evenings trying to figure out why Publisher crashes on 'save'. Every time, without exception. I've been online searching the internet for answers, and while it is obvious others have had this problem, I have come up with ZERO solutions that will work for me.

I'm running XP, have plenty of room on my computer, have tried eliminating the amount of fonts on my computer, (it was one suggestion, and which took HOURS to do), and explored the SP2 for office, but after reading IT'S possible problems, decided not to try that.I have tried unchecking everything on start up to see if that would help - no beans. Other efforts have failed as well.

If anyone has experienced this issue, and come up with a solution, I would ever so grateful to hear about it!

BTW - I borrowed and loaded Publisher 2003, fully expecting it to work, but it did the same thing - sooooo, the problem is something in my computer, a setting or some other something interferring.....

OK, if it's not the fonts, a known Publisher crashing problem, then try saving your file in another format other than .pub.

If that doesn't work, I'm at a loss.

Let us know if you fix the problem!

I've not run into a problem with Publisher and use it all the time......I'd be so upset. I hope you get an answer. I'll be checking back to see if anyone has a solution. I use Publisher 2003.

Hi Craig- Pub will not allow you to save in any other format, and in any case, crashes as soon as you hit the save button, and before you can make any other choices.

If you had Office 2007 installed there is a diagnostic check under the help menu. Was 2007 a clean install or was it an upgrade from an earlier version?

Hi Rich - The diagnostic was run - Said everything was OK. 2007 was an upgrade to Office 2003. Do you have any ideas?

Ok Debi. Did you get this resolved. Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the program. It sounds like that may be your best bet at this point.

Sometimes if the bug can be controlled it has to be killed.

Hi Sabrina - Oh my. I've done a registry clean up, installed and uninstalled two versions (several times), deleted a boatload of fonts because I read online that that solved the problem for someone else, (and in the process accidently deleted the font I use for my website, and now cannot find it ANYWHERE to replace it) ..... You don't happen to have Nokie Brush HMK on your computer, do you???? Anyway - I have now officially given up. I am not willing to strip my computer and reinstall EVERYTHING. I think it's pretty stinky that Microsoft does not offer realistic support for their products....

So. Are you sorry you asked? LOL

Too bad. My next thought is to contact Chris, Keli's hubby. Or you can give up and start using the templates for Word. MS stinks. But, I do like Vista.

Thanks for the thoughts, Sabrina- I did call Chris. He's stumped, too... His next idea was to wipe the drive, and reload EVERYTHING. I'm not going there - I'll live without Publisher! LOL
