Part-time Hours...Full-time Agent

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty

Hello All,

I have read a number of posts talking about people who are in the business working part-time or having another job.  I understand why everyone feels that way, but I also wanted to add my two cents to that end.

A lot of us New Agents/Realtors have a great desire to work Real Estate full-time, but we also have households to run and expenses that come with it.  So, when you assume that just because we work another job that we are not committed to Real Estate, I just wanted to dispel that myth.  Perhaps some of you have forgotten how difficult it was for you when you first started?  I will never forget all the hard work and dedication that me and my family had to endure for me to get here.  With that being said, I work another full-time job, so I had to take all of my classes on the weekends.  The pre-licensing took me 4 weekends and the final sales took another 2.  If you all are family oriented, which I know most of you are because I have read some of your posts, then you can imagine the strain it put on my family.  Not complaining because my wife and daughter have been very supportive and in the end everything that I do everyday is for them.

So when some of you assume that we work another job, please know that for me like so many others that we work it out of necessity.  Please believe that when I am able to quit my full-time job that I will do it gladly, because it is not easy coping with the stress of two full-time jobs...

Part time is okay as long as you don't take more than you can handle then everyone will be happy! family, clients, agents, and it less stressful, and more profitable!

An option I have in my company is a mentor. The mentor is a full-time top producing agent that works with me on deals I initiate. We share the commissions equally. The more deals I do allow me to make a gracefull transition into full-time work as my business supports it. Win-Win-Win: top producer gets business, I get credit for generating business, client gets both of us to work on the transaction.
